What is Geothermal?
Geothermal drilling is the process of drilling a hole in order to tap into the earth’s heat. This heat can then be used to generate electricity or to heat homes and businesses.
Geothermal drilling is a clean and renewable source of energy, and it is becoming increasingly popular as more people look for ways to reduce their carbon footprint.
“The transition from coal, oil, and gas to wind, solar, and geothermal energy is well under way. The new energy economy harnesses the energy in wind, the energy coming from the sun, and heat from within the earth itself“
Lester R Brown

At Pat & Mark Dempsey Ltd, we specialise in providing the best geothermal drilling services to our clients throughout Ireland. With an extensive range of experience in the industry, we believe that we are the right team for all of your drilling needs.
Geothermal drilling is not a new technology
it has been used for centuries in some parts of the world, such as Iceland, where geothermal energy is abundant. In recent years, however, the technology has advanced significantly, making it possible to harness this renewable resource in a much more efficient way.
There are two main types of geothermal drilling: direct use and power generation.
Direct use involves tapping into the earth’s heat to directly heat buildings or water. This type of geothermal drilling is typically used in areas where there is a high concentration of geothermal energy, such as near volcanoes.
Power generation, on the other hand, involves using the earth’s heat to generate electricity. This type of geothermal drilling is more common in areas where there is a lower concentration of geothermal energy. This type of geothermal drilling (power generation) is what we typically see in Ireland.
